The authors consider two partial differential operators on the half plane \([0, \infty[\times \mathbb R\) whose eigenfunctions are certain two-dimensional Jacobi functions. In particular, an associated Fourier transform, an intertwining operator and heat kernels exist in this context. In the paper, certain kinds of uncertainty principles similar to the Beurling-Hörmander theorem on \(\mathbb R^d\) are proved. The connections of the results to concrete symmetric spaces and hypergroups (which exist) are not mentioned.
