The authors investigate the dimension splitting for time dependent operators. They first describe the analytic framework and give an example of a parabolic problem and its dimension splitting. They prove first order convergence of a Lie splitting and derive corresponding results for the exponential Lie splitting. The Peacemen-Rachford splitting is analyzed. Finally they show how these results can be generalized to Banach spaces and to variable step sizes.
