    The authors apply the Kato-Tanabe technique [\textit{T. Kato} and \textit{H. Tanabe}, Osaka Math. J. 14, 107--133 (1962; Zbl 0106.09302)] for abstract evolution equations to the problem \[ u''(t)=A(t)u(t)+\kappa A(t)u'(t)+f(t), \quad u(0)=x, \ u'(0)=y,\] where \(\{A(t): t \in[0,T]\}\) is a family of densely defined linear operators in a Hilbert space \(H\) and \(\kappa\) is a positive constant. These results are used to establish the existence and uniqueness of a global solution to the problem \[ u_{tt}(t,x)= \operatorname{div} [\Lambda(t,x) \nabla(u(t,x)+\kappa u_t(x,t))]+f(t,x), \quad t \in (0,t), \ x \in \Omega_ t,\] \[ u(t,x)+\kappa u_ t(t,x)=0\text{ for }t \in(0,T), \ x \in \partial \Omega_ t, \] \[ u(0,x)=u_0(x), \ u_t(0,x)=u_1(x)\text{ for }x \in \Omega_0, \] where \(\Omega_t=T_t(\Omega_ 0)\), \(T_t\) is the flow associated with a smooth vector field \(V: [0,T]\times \mathbb{R}^N \to \mathbb{R}^N\), \(\Lambda\) is a smooth positive-definite matrix and \(f\), \(u_0\), \(u_1\) are given \(L^2\) functions.
