The main result of this paper is an example of a correction theorem. Correction theorems assert that an arbitrary measurable function can be modified on a set of small measure to get a function with some good properties. In this case, it is proved that if \(u\) is a weight in the \(A_{\infty}\) class of Muckenhoupt and \(w\) satisfies that \(w^2 \in A_1\), then, for any measurable function \(f\) defined on the torus \(\mathbb{T} \) such that \(|f|\leq w\), and every \(\varepsilon\), \(0<\varepsilon<1\), there exists a function \(g\) such that \(|g|+|f-g|=|f|\) for which the following inequalities hold: \[ \int_{\{f\neq g\}} u \leq \varepsilon \int_{\mathbb{T}} \left| \frac{f}{w}\right| u \] and \[ \sigma (g) \leq C(u,w) (1+|\log(\varepsilon)|)w, \] where for any distribution \(f\) \[ (\sigma f)(x)=\left(\sum_{k\in \mathbb{N}} |(M_{\Delta_k}f)(x)|^2 \right)^{1/2} \] and where \(M_{\Delta_k}(f)=\left(\chi_{\Delta_k}(\xi) \hat{f}(\xi)\right)^{\check{}}\) is the Fourier multiplier corresponding to a family \((\Delta_k)_{k \in \mathbb N}\) of disjoint segments in \(\mathbb{Z}\). The corresponding real line version of the result is also considered.
