The authors investigate the structure of real Kähler Euclidean submanifolds, that is, isometric immersions \(f\) of a Kähler manifold \(M^{2n}\) into \({\mathbb R}^{2n+p}\). Such an immersion is called pluriharmonic if every holomorphic curve in \(M\) is mapped by \(f\) onto a minimal surface in \({\mathbb R}^{2n+p}\). The index \(\nu_J\) of pluriharmonic nullity of \(f\) at a point \(x \in M\) is defined as the complex dimension of the complex vector space spanned by all \(X \in T_xM\) with the property that \(\alpha(X,JY) = \alpha(JX,Y)\) holds for all \(Y \in T_xM\), where \(J\) is the complex structure on \(M\) and \(\alpha\) the second fundamental form of \(f\). Then \(f\) is pluriharmonic if and only if \(\nu_J = n\) at all points of \(M\). The authors show that \(\nu_J \geq n-p\) and then investigate the case of equality. Assume that \(\nu_J = n-p\) and \(M\) is nowhere flat. Then there exists an open dense subset of \(M\) on which the immersion can be decomposed locally as a product of real Kähler Euclidean hypersurfaces. If, in addition, \(M\) is complete and simply connected, then the immersion splits globally as a product of surfaces in \({\mathbb R}^3\) and a Euclidean factor. Several applications of these results are given.
