The concept of distributive (modular) poset was introduced by J. Rachůnek and J. Larmerová in 1983 and treated by I. Chajda and J. Rachůnek in 1989. Shortly speaking, a poset is distributive (modular) whenever it satisfies the corresponding identities known in lattices where joins or meets are substituted by the upper cones or lower cones, respectively. It is quite natural to generalize in this way also the concepts of neutral, standard and distributive elements and its duals. The authors characterize these elements and compare their properties. The fundamental characterization theorem of standard elements in lattices is extended to posets. Several other characterizations of these elements are obtained in sectionally semicomplemented posets and also in atomistic posets.
