Let \((X,\tau)\) be a topological space. A subset \(A\) of \(X\) is said to be semi-open (resp. \(\alpha\)-open) if \(A\subset \text{Cl(Int} (A))\) (resp. \(A\subset \text{Int(Cl(Int} (A)))\)). The complement of a semi-open (resp. \(\alpha\)-open) set is called semi-closed (resp. \(\alpha\)-closed). The intersection of all semi-closed (resp. \(\alpha\)-closed) sets containing \(A\) is called the semi-closure (resp. \(\alpha\)-closure) of \(A\). The semi-closure of \(A\) is denoted by \(\text{sCl}(A)\). A point \(x\) in \(X\) is called a \(\delta\)-cluster point of \(A\) if \(\text{Int(Cl} (U))\cap A\neq \emptyset\) for every open set \(U\) of \(X\) containing \(x\). The set of all \(\delta\)-cluster points of \(A\) is called the \(\delta\)-closure of \(A\). Let \(X,Y\) be two topological spaces. A function \(f:X\to Y\) is said to be almost s-continuous [\textit{T. Noiri, B. Ahmad} and \textit{M.Khan}, Kyungpook Math. J. 35, No. 2, 311-322 (1995; Zbl 0843.54017)] if for each point \(x\in X\) and each semi-open set of \(Y\) containing \(f(x)\), an open set \(U\) of \(X\) exists containing \(x\) such that \(f(U)\subset \text{sCl} (V)\). In this paper the authors investigate some properties of almost s-continuous functions. New characterizations of almost s-continuous functions by using \(\delta\)-closure and \(\alpha\)-closure are obtained.
