The authors are interested in proving lower bounds on the Ginzburg-Landau energy in any dimension: \[ E_\varepsilon(u)= \frac 12 \int_\Omega\Biggl(|\nabla u|^2+ \frac{1}{2\varepsilon^2}(1- |u|^2)^2\Biggr)\,dx, \] where \(\Omega\) is a smooth domain (bounded) of \(\mathbb{R}^d\), \(d\geq 2\), and \(u\) is complex-valued. They present an optimal (or sharp) lower bound, with a rather simple proof. The initial motivation for the authors was to obtain optimal estimates and additional regularity for time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau for which the product nature of the estimate turns out to be crucial; but the result of the authors encompasses both the static and dynamic cases.
