A theoretical investigation is carried out on the problem of natural convection from a vertical finite plate. Boundary layer interaction with the external flow is studied by the method of matched asymptotic expansions. The leading edge effect is investigated by using a deformed longitudinal coordinate. The trailing edge region is investigated within the confines of the two-layer boundary layer model. To support the results, experimental data are provided both for first-kind and constant heat-flow boundary conditions.
