The authors characterize a) compact totally real minimal submanifolds of \(\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^n\) and b) compact minimal submanifolds of \(S^{n+1}\) by the spectrum of the Laplace-Beltrami operator acting on functions. For the two cases they obtain the following results. a) Let \(M,M_0\) be \(n\)-dimensional compact totally real minimal submanifolds of \(\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^n\). For \(3\leq n \leq 5\), \(M\) and \(M_0\) are isometric if their spectrum agrees. For \(n=6\) one needs to impose the non-vanishing of the scalar curvature to obtain the same result. b) The Clifford torus \(S^1 (\sqrt{1/n})\times S^{n-1} (\sqrt{(n-1)/n})\) is characterized only by its spectrum in the class of all compact minimal submanifolds of \(S^{n+1}\).
