The authors consider the family of monic symmetric Kravchuk polynomials \[ K_n(x;M)=D_n(M){}_2F_1\left(\left.\begin{matrix} -n,M-\sqrt{M} x\cr -2M\cr \end{matrix}\right|2\right), \] where \[ D_n(M)={(-2M)_n\over (2\sqrt{M})^n}. \] The zeros \(\kappa_{n,k}\) are in increasing order given in \[ -\sqrt{M}<\kappa_{n,n}<\cdots <\kappa_{n,2}<\kappa_{n,1}<\sqrt{M} \] and those of the Hermite polynomial \(H_n(x)\) by \[ h_{n,n}<\cdots <h_{n,2}<h_{n,1}. \] The main result is then given in { Theorem 1.} The inequalities \[ \sqrt{h_{n,k}^2-{n^2{\overline\zeta}\over M}}\leq \kappa_{n,k}(M)\leq\sqrt{h_{n,k}^2+{n^2{\overline\xi}_n\over M}} \] hold for every \(M,n,k\in\mathbf{N}\) with \(n\leq 2M\) and \(1\leq k\leq\lfloor n/2\rfloor \) where \[ {\overline\xi}_n=\left\{\begin{matrix} {1\over 72}(3\sqrt{13}-10)\approx 0.00113424,\;\text{when }n\text{ is even},\\ {1\over 588} (\sqrt{11679}-102)\approx 0.0103221,\;\text{when }n\text{ is odd,}\\ \end{matrix}\right. \] and \[ {\overline\zeta}={1\over 24}(7\sqrt{3}+12)\approx 1.00518. \] Moreover, they study the difference between the symmetric Kravchuk polynomials and the Hermite polynomials of the same degree, leading to their \[ \leqno\text{Conjecture 1:}\qquad \sqrt{h_{n,k}^2-{n^2\over M}}\leq \kappa_{n,k}(M)\leq h_{n,k}. \] Finally, they make a comparison of their results with other bounds in the literature.
