In the paper under review the authors prove that any proper holomorphic self-mapping of the pentablock is an automorphism. Recall that the pentablock is a bounded inhomogeneous pseudoconvex domain in \(\mathbb C^3\) without \(\mathcal C^1\) boundary, related to the \(\mu\)-synthesis problem and introduced recently by \textit{J. Agler} et al. [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 422, No. 1, 508--543 (2015; Zbl 1297.32003)]. In the proof the authors use the holomorphic extendability of the proper holomorphic mappings between quasi-balanced domains with continuous Minkowski functions due to \textit{Ł.~Kosiński} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 139, No. 2, 559--569 (2011; Zbl 1211.32012)], the description of proper holomorphic self-mappings in the symmetrized bidisc and the complex ellipsoids, and the complex geometry of the pentablock.
