The transfinite inductive dimension \(\text{Ind}\) is a transfinite extension of the classical Brouwer-Čech large inductive dimension. Let \(\dim_C\) and \(\dim_W\) denote the transfinite extensions of covering dimension introduced by \textit{P. Borst} [Fundam. Math. 130, 1-25 (1988; Zbl 0661.54035) and ibid., 73-99 (1988; Zbl 0661.54036)] which classify \(C\)-compacta and weakly infinite-dimensional compacta, respectively. It is known that \(\dim_W\leq \dim_C\) and \(\dim_W\leq \text{Ind}\). P. Borst asked about connections between \(\dim_C\) and \(\text{Ind}\), in particular, whether the inequality \(\dim_C\leq \text{Ind}\) holds. In this paper a function \(h:\omega_1\rightarrow\omega_1\) is introduced and it is shown that \(\dim_C\leq h(\text{Ind})\).
