Recall that the FC-centre of a group \(G\) is the subgroup consisting of all elements with only finitely many conjugates, and \(G\) is an FC-group if it coincides with the FC-centre, i.e. if \(G\) has finite conjugacy classes. If \(c\) is any positive integer, a group \(G\) is called an \(\mathrm{FC}_c\)-group if the \(c\)-th term \(\gamma_c(G)\) of the lower central series is contained in the FC-centre of \(G\) and each element of \(G\) has only finitely many conjugates under the action of \(\gamma_c(G)\). Then a group has the \(\mathrm{FC}_1\)-property if and only if it is an FC-group. Moreover, \(G\) is called a \(\mathrm{CF}_c\)-group if the centralizer \(C_G(\gamma_c(G))\) has finite index in \(G\). Among other results concerning these group classes, in the paper under review the authors prove that an \(\mathrm{FC}_c\)-group satisfies the minimal condition on abelian subgroups if and only if it is a \(\mathrm{CF}_c\)-group with the minimal condition. Moreover, it is shown that an \(\mathrm{FC}_c\)-group satisfies the maximal condition on abelian subgroups if and only if it is a finitely generated \(\mathrm{CF}_c\)-group.
