This paper is a continuation of the work by the same authors [J. Differ. Equations 199, No. 2, 290--325 (2004; Zbl 1059.34033)]. The authors study the Lagerstrom model by means of the methods from dynamical system theory as well as from geometric theory and blow-up techniques. They derive rigorous asymptotic expansions for the Lagerstrom equations using standard methods and the method of matched asymptotic expansions. The authors explain the structure of these expansions and demonstrate that the occurrence of logarithmic switchback terms is caused by a resonance phenomenon.
