The property tau (with a lower bound for the \(\tau\)-constant) is proven for the groups \(SL_d\) with \(d \geq 3\) over the polynomial rings \({\mathbb{Z}}[x_1,\ldots,x_k].\) Reviewer's remark. Proofs of the property \(T\) for these groups appeared.
