The author develops a notion of stratified class forcing that implies cofinality preservation and which is preserved by iteration (with the appropriate support). Some earlier examples of class forcing are shown to be stratified and some earlier examples that are not stratified have a related property called \(\Delta\)-stratification which is also preserved by iteration.
