Let \(S\) be a semigroup, let \(R=\bigoplus R_s\) (\(s\in R\)) be an \(S\)-graded ring, and let \(J(R)\) be the Jacobson radical of \(R\). Put \(J_{\text{gr}}(R)=\bigoplus(R_s\cap J(R))\); \(J_{\text{gr}}(R)\) is called the homogeneous part of \(J(R)\). For \(R\) satisfying certain classical finiteness conditions, a description of \(R/J_{\text{gr}}(R)\) is obtained. The main result: if \(S\) is a group with identity \(e\), \(R_e\subseteq J_{\text{gr}}(R)\neq R\), and \(R/J_{\text{gr}}(R)\) is semilocal (left perfect, semiprimary), then \(R/J_{\text{gr}}(R)\) is a finite direct product of matrix rings over group crossed products over division rings (Theorem 2.2). The case \(S\) is not a group is in a way reduced to the group case. As an application it is shown when a semigroup graded ring is Artinian, semiprimary, or perfect.
