The paper concerns the study of the solvability of the following nonlinear boundary value problem on the real line: \[ \Phi(u'(t))=f(t,u(t),u'(t)) \quad \text{a.e. on } \mathbb{R}, \] \[ u(-\infty)=-1, \quad u(+\infty)=1, \] where \(\Phi:(-a,a)\to \mathbb{R}\) is a singular increasing homeomorphism with \(\Phi(0)=0\), \(f=f(t,x,y)\) is a continuous function, odd with respect to the variables \(t\) and \(x\), satisfying certain growth conditions in a neighborhood of \((x,y)=(0,0)\). Approximating the original problem by suitable problems defined on compact intervals, the authors prove the existence of an odd increasing heteroclinic solution.
