The object of investigation is a one-dimensional measure-valued branching process with binary branching occurring at a single point catalyst described by a Dirac delta function. The authors prove the existence of a spatial density field and an occupation density field and study their continuity properties via the corresponding reaction-diffusion problem, in which delta functions enter as coefficient of the reaction term, as Cauchy initial condition, and as external force term. The approach is close to that of \textit{N. Konno} and \textit{T. Shiga} [Probab. Theory Relat. Fields 79, No. 2, 201-225 (1988; Zbl 0631.60058)] and \textit{S. Sugitani} [J. Math. Soc. Japan 41, No. 3, 437-462 (1989; Zbl 0684.60049)].
