Let f be a meromorphic function which is univalent in the annulus \(D=\{r<| z| <1\}\) and has a pole of residue 1 at \(\zeta\in D\), and let \(\delta =\delta [f]\) denote the area of the complement of f(D). In the present note the author improves his previous results [Math. Japonicae 5, 25-28 (1958; Zbl 0093.273)] by taking into account this omitted area \(\delta\). Let \(\phi_{\theta}(z,\zeta)\) map D under the same normalization as above onto the whole plane with parallel rectilinear slits of the inclination \(\theta\). By putting \(N(z,\zeta)=(\phi_ 0(z,\zeta)+\phi_{\pi /2}(z,\zeta))/2\), the author derives an area-principle in the form \[ \sum^{\infty}_{n=-\infty}n(1-r^{2n})| a_ n|^ 2=\pi K(\zeta,\zeta)-(\delta /\pi), \] where K denotes the Bergman kernel function and \(f(z)-N(z,\zeta)=\sum^{\infty}_{n=-\infty}a_ nz\) n. As a corollary a precise estimation \[ | f'(z)-N'(z,\zeta)| \leq \pi (K(\zeta,\zeta)-(\delta /\pi^ 2))^{1/2} K(z,z)^{1/2} \] is obtained. The limit case of \(r\to 0\) is also observed.
