For a function \(s\) subharmonic in a strip \(x_ 1,x_ 2,...,x_ n\), y; \(0<y<\alpha\), in \(R^{n+1}\), the author defines averages of \(s\) too complicated to be repeated here [cf. \textit{D. H. Armitage} and \textit{T. B. Fugard}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 89, 1-27 (1982; Zbl 0502.31001) and \textit{G. Wanby}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 118, 208-231 (1986; Zbl 0604.31003)], which are increasing as a function of the distance from the origin and have suitable convexity. This permits several applications to uniqueness theorems (generalizing the classical F. Carlson theorem concerning holomorphic functions of exponential type in a half-plane and decreasing exponentially along the boundary) in which the interplay between the growth restriction and the rate of decay is studied. Conditions are also given for the existence of a harmonic majorant of \(s\).
