The work considers mathematical aspects of equations describing soft glassy materials, which can be considered as particles dispersed inside a Newtonian fluid. The principal model is based in the ideas of the work [\textit{P. Hébraud} and \textit{F. Lequeux}, Phys. Rev. Lett. 81, 2934--2937 (1998)] but is much more concentrated on the mathematical properties and their generalizations. In particular, the authors prove well-posedness of the model for a steady homogeneous flow. The final part considers a set of examples: Couette flow and elongational flows.
