Some theorems describing the structure of Noetherian serial rings are proved. For a ring \(A\) the following conditions are equivalent: (1) \(A\) is a semiprime right serial left Noetherian ring; (2) \(A\) is a semiprime left serial right Noetherian ring; (3) \(A\) is a finite direct product of serial Noetherian hereditary prime rings. If \(A\) is a serial ring and \(1=e_1+\cdots+e_n\) is a decomposition of \(1\in A\) into a sum of local orthogonal idempotents \(e_i\) such that every \(e_iAe_i\) is a ring with maximum condition on right (or left) annihilators, then \(A\) has an Artinian serial classical ring of quotients. If \(M_A\) is a finitely generated module over a serial ring \(A\), such that the singular submodule \(\text{Sing}(M_A)\) is superfluous in \(M\), then \(M_A\) is a projective nonsingular serial module. The results promised in the author's abstract (and in the introduction) concerning \(\pi\)-projective and \(\pi\)-injective modules over serial rings are absent in this note.
