The authors consider large scale systems consisting of a finite number of interacting subsystems. The model accounts for strong static interactions and weak dynamic interactions, and includes the effect of possible unmodeled dynamics. Under appropriate assumptions, the backstepping technique is employed to design a decentralized adaptive control using only local information in such a way that the overall interconnected system is stable and all the outputs are regulated to zero. Under the proposed control, the authors provide an estimation for the \(L_2\) and \(L_\infty\) bounds of the tracking error in order to evaluate the transient performance.
