Padé approximation for a class of hypergeometric functions and parametric geometry of numbers (Q2109421)

In this paper, the authors derive new irrationality measures for special values of certain families of hypergeometric functions satisfying Poincaré-type recurrences, via explicit Padé approximation. These generalize earlier work due to many authors including Mahler and Chudnovsky on the binomial function (where they recover the strongest results in the literature). They further discuss results for approximation in non-Archimdean metrics and connections between classical transference principles for simultaneous approximation and parametric geometry of numbers.
