Within the framework of orbifolds, the authors apply Sunad's and Buser's methods for building two isospectral flat surfaces with boundary and with the same Neumann spectrum where one is orientable and the other one is not orientable. Therefore, they deduce that one cannot hear whether a surface with boundary admits a complex structure.
