It is well-known that the moduli of smoothness and \(K\)-functionals in many problems are equivalent tools for approximation. In this paper, similar problems are considered for moduli of smoothness and \(K\)-functionals of fractional order, which needs special definitions and machinery. This concerns also the spaces; here, the Hardy \(H^p\) spaces, \(p>0\), with a special treatment of the case \(0<p<1\), in the unit disk are considered. The obtained equivalence results are used in order to derive an analog of the Hardy-Littlewood theorem on the smoothness of the derivative and sharp estimates of the rate of approximation of functions by generalized Bochner-Riesz means.
