Existence theorems for focal boundary value problems (Q1175625)

The authors examine a focal boundary value problem for a nonlinear \(n\)-th order differential equation. The main Theorem 3.1 gives sufficient conditions for the existence of a solution by using two auxiliary functions \(u\) and \(v\). An analogous result is proven also for a globally bounded nonlinearity \(f\), with assumptions which do not refer to the above functions \(u\) and \(v\). The proofs refer to \textit{L. Jackson} and \textit{K. Shrader} [J. Differ. Equations 3, 248--255 (1967; Zbl 0149.29701)].
