Applying \(K\)-theory to the classification problem of \(C^*\)-algebras, the reviewer proposed to consider the Lie groups, the dual objects of which are rather simple, but nontrivial. Examples of these classes are the so called \(MD\), \(\overline{MD}\) and its subclass \(MD4\). The class \(MD\) (resp., \(\overline{MD}\)) consists of all the Lie groups, the coadjoint orbits of which are of dimension 0 or maximal (resp., or equal to the dimension of the groups themselves). The author considered the structure of the \(C^*\)-algebras of foliations formed by the generic coadjoint orbits of the 4-dimensional Lie groups in \(MD\), providing the subclass \(MD4\). The author obtained a complete list (up to isomorphism) of Lie algebras in class \(MD4\) (Theorem 1), described the coadjoint orbits (Theorem 2), topologically classified the associated foliations formed by the generic coadjoint orbits (Theorem 3) and finally explicitely computed the corresponding \(KK\)-theory indices of the arized measurable foliation \(C^*\)-algebras (Theorems 4 and 5).
