The authors show that a general solution of two-dimensional homogeneous anisotropic isothermal elastostatics can be represented either by the two analytic functions \(f_1= f_1(x_1+ \mu_1 x_2)\) and \(f_2= f_2(x_1+ \mu_2 x_2)\), where \(\mu_k= \xi_k+ i\eta_k\), \(k= 1,2\) are roots of a fourth-order algebraic equation involving the compliance constants, or by a single real-valued function \(F= F(x_1, x_2)\) that satisfies a fourth-order partial differential equation with compliance coefficients. However, no applications of the general representations to solve concrete two-dimensional boundary value problems are given.
