A function \(f:X\subset {\mathbb R}\to {\mathbb R}\) is called rearrangeable if there exists a bijective map \(\gamma :X\to X\) such that \(f\circ \gamma \) is continuous; \(f\) is called completely rearrangeable if, moreover, for any measurable set \(M\subset X\), \(\gamma ^{-1}(M)\) is measurable and \(\mu (\gamma ^{-1}(M))=\mu (M)\) (\(\mu \) denotes the Lebesgue measure). Rearrangeability of a function depends only on the existence of a continuous function with a given assignment of the cardinality of the fibers. Some results concerning rearrangeable functions defined on a connected set with all the fibers of the same cardinality are summarized. A characterization of the class of all one-to-one measurable functions \(f:X\subset {\mathbb R}\to {\mathbb R}\) defined on a connected set~\(X\) which are completely rearrangeable is given. As examples show, there is no relation between rearrangeability and continuity almost everywhere.
