The purpose of this paper is to examine the number of totally bounded quasi-uniformities (equivalently, quasi-proximities) that a topological space admits. The authors prove the following interesting results: (1) A topological space that admits a nontransitive totally bounded quasi-uniformity \(V\) possesses at least \(2^{2^{\aleph_0}}\) compatible nontransitive totally bounded quasi-uniformities finer than \(V\). (2) A supersober space having a discrete subspace of infinite cardinality \(k\) admits at least \(2^{2^k}\) transitive totally bounded quasi-uniformities. Moreover they show that each infinite metrizable space admits exactly \(2^{\circ(X)}\) totally bounded transitive quasi-uniformities. Finally, it should be mentioned that all these results are illustrated by various nice examples.
