The main purpose of the paper is to extend Fujita's theorem using a suitable series of idempotent ideals. Using a complex whose first homology is a given simple module, Fujita found a method to find tilting modules of finite projective dimension. In this paper this theorem is generalized as follows: The set up is a Noetherian ring \(A\) and a sequence \(I_1\subseteq\cdots\subseteq I_r\not=I_{r+1}=A\) such that (i) There are idempotents \(e_1,\dots,e_r,e_{r+1}=1\) such that \(I_i=Ae_iA\), and (ii) \(\text{Ext}^j(A/I_i,A)=0\) for \(0\leq j\leq i-1\), \(1\leq i\leq r\). Given such a set of idempotents and a complex with particular properties the author constructs for each \(s\), with \(1\leq s\leq r\) a tilting module of projective dimension \(s\). Some standard homological algebra is developed in order to obtain the main theorem. Examples are given in the last section.
