If \(1< n_1< n_2<\dots\) be integers and \((a_j)_{j\geq 1}\) a convergent sequence of complex numbers. If the minimal prime-divisors of \(n_j\) tend to \(\infty\) as \(j\to \infty\), there is a uniformly-almost-even interpolating function \(f\), that is \(f(n_j)= a_j\) for all \(j\). This result was proved by \textit{W. Schwarz} and \textit{J. Spilker} [Arithmetical functions, Cambridge (1994; Zbl 0807.11001), p. 155] by means of Gelfand's theory of Banach algebras. The author tries to give an elementary proof of this theorem, but it is incomplete. In a following joint paper with the reviewer (in Arch. Math.) this method will be expanded; in a third part (with three authors) the above-mentioned result will be proved by another elementary method.
