Skein construction of idempotents in Birman-Murakami-Wenzl algebras (Q5950058)

The authors study structures of Birman-Murakami-Wenzl algebras without using their representation theory. They provide skein theoretic formulas for minimal idempotents in such BMW-algebras. These formulas will be used to derive certain known results which are essential in the construction of quantum invariants, modular categories and topological quantum field theories. The explicit formulas for the minimal idempotents of the BMW-algebras will be used to obtain the semi-simple algebra decomposition. Furthermore the proof of the Wenzl formula for the quantum dimension of these idempotents has been derived in a skein theoretic way.
