The authors suggest a formulation of the self-similar Cauchy problem for the one-dimensional nonlinear heat conduction equation. This makes it possible to find all initial distributions of temperature over an unbounded domain that are in agreement with the power self-similarity. The evolution of such solutions is analyzed in detail for the case of blow-up mode. New classes of solutions are obtained and their physical properties are analyzed.
