    Let \(Q_0 \subset \mathbb R^n\) be a fixed cube with sides parallel to the coordinate axes, let \(w\) be a positive integrable function on \(Q_0\) and let \(1 < p < \infty\). We say that a positive function \(g \in L^p_w (Q_0)\) satisfies a reverse Hölder inequality (notation \(g \in RH_p (w))\) if there exists a constant \(C \geq 1\) such that \[ \Big(\frac {1} {w (Q)} \int_Q g (x)^p w (x)d x \Big)^{1/p} \leq \frac {C} {w (Q)} \int_Q g (x) w (x)d x \] for every cube \(Q \subset Q_0\) with sides parallel to the coordinate axes (here \(w (Q) := \int_Q w (x)d x\)). If the underlying measure \(\mu := w (x)d x\) satisfies the doubling condition (that is \(\mu (B (x, 2 r) \leq c \mu (B (x, r))\), then, by \textit{F.~ W. Gehring} [Acta Math. 130, 265-277 (1973; Zbl 0258.30021)], \[ g \in RH_p (w) \Longrightarrow \exists \varepsilon > 0 \;\text{such that} \;g \in RH_{p + \varepsilon} (w). \] The main aim of the paper under review is to establish such a result for nondoubling measures \(\mu := w (x)dx\).
