The Langlands classification parameterizes irreducible representations of a connected reductive group over a local non-archimedean field by irreducible tempered representations of Levi subgroups (twisted by a positive valued character which satisfies a positiveness condition). In the paper under review, this classification is extended from the case of connected to non-connected groups in the case that the group is quasi-split and that the component group is abelian. The result is formulated as a natural extension of the Langlands classification from the connected case. The basic idea of the proofs is to use the Langlands classification for the connected component. This results can be useful in representation theory as well as in the theory of automorphic forms.
