Let \(X\) be either a complete scheme of finite type over an algebraically closed field \(k\) or a compact complex space. In this paper, the author constructs versal deformations (Kuranishi spaces) for various types of meromorphic connection over \(X\). The proofs use Čech cohomology. Section 1 contains a construction for the Kuranishi space for vector bundles on \(X\) and includes an explanation of how versal deformations can be used to construct a local analytic moduli space in the case of a simple bundle. Section 2 concerns meromorphic connections with a fixed divisor of poles. The first order deformations are then classified by \({\mathbb H}^1(X,{\mathcal C}^\bullet)\) for a suitable two-term complex of sheaves \({\mathcal C}^\bullet\) (Theorem 2.7). A similar result is obtained for integrable meromorphic connections (Theorem 2.8). Obstructions are introduced in Section 3 and the Kuranishi space is constructed for meromorphic connections (Theorem 3.6). In Section 4, the equivalent results for integrable connections (Theorem 4.2) and integrable logarithmic connections (Theorem 4.8) are obtained. Finally, in Section 5, Kuranishi spaces are constructed for parabolic connections (Theorem 5.5) and parabolic vector bundles (Theorem 5.10) on a smooth projective curve.
