Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded smooth domain in \(\mathbb R^N, N\geq 1.\) The paper is concerned with integro-differential problems (P) of the form \[ -\operatorname{div}(a(x)\nabla u(x))+\eta \psi(x) \int_{\Omega}\phi(y) u(y)dy=f(x,u)+h(x),\text{ in } \Omega,\quad u=0\text{ on } \partial\Omega, \] where \(\eta\) is a positive parameter, \(a,\psi,\phi,h:\Omega\to\mathbb R\) and \(f:\Omega\times \mathbb R\to\mathbb R\) are suitable functions. The particular cases with \(a=\phi=\psi=1,h=0\) and \(f(x,u)=(u^+)^{\alpha}\) with \(\alpha\in (0,1)\)(sublinear variational case) or \(\alpha\in (1,2^{*}-1)\) (superlinear variational case) where \(2^{*}=\frac{2N}{N-2},\) if \(N\geq3\) and \(2^{*}= +\infty\) if \(N=1,2\), are investigated. In these cases, the existence of a weak solution for all \(\eta >0\) is proved. Moreover, in the sublinear variational case, the existence of a sign-changing weak solution [resp. of a positive classical solution] is proved for \(\eta>0\) large enough, [resp. for \(\eta>0,\) small enough]. In the general nonvariational case, sufficient conditions that lead to the existence and the uniqueness of a weak solution to problem (P) are considered.
