\textit{M. Gromov} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 2, No. 4, 851--897 (1989; Zbl 0686.32012)] introduced splitting transition maps to Oka theory, and ever since, splitting lemmas of various kinds have played an essential part in the theory. The author proves a splitting lemma for transition maps of coherent sheaves. As applications, he provides simpler proofs of \textit{O. Forster} and \textit{K. J. Ramspott}'s Oka principle for admissible pairs [Invent. Math. 1, 260--286 (1966; Zbl 0154.33307)], and of the interpolation property of sections of elliptic submersions obtained by \textit{F. Forstnerič} and \textit{J. Prezelj} [Math. Z. 236, No. 1, 43--68 (2001; Zbl 0968.32005)]. The proof relies on \textit{F. Forstnerič}'s splitting lemma [Stein manifolds and holomorphic mappings. The homotopy principle in complex analysis. Cham: Springer (2017; Zbl 1382.32001)] and on the lifting lemma for transition maps of coherent sheaves. The splitting lemma and the lifting lemma are also proven with parameters.
