The lunar orbit insertion deboost is the key point that influences the capture of spacecraft by the Moon. In caset of primary propulsion system failure, an abort may result in. The rescue mainly relies on trajectory change by the spacecraft itself to return the crew to Earth safely. Here, the authors analyze a family of possible trajectories. The proposed algorithm uses a patched conic technique. The characteristics of the abort trajectories -- energy consumption and return time of flight -- are presented.
