In order to develop the deformation theory of Lie algebras, \textit{J. Hartwig, D. Larsson} and \textit{S. Silvestrov} [J. Algebra 295, No. 2, 314--361 (2006; Zbl 1138.17012)] introduced Hom-Lie algebras as a generalized Lie algebra. It is well known that the higher dimensional cohomology group of a Hom-Lie algebra has been established. While the lower dimensional cohomology theory of Hom-Lie algebras is not well studied because of the Hom-Jacobi identity, in this paper, using R. Farnsteiner's method of studying the structure of graded Lie algebra, the authors determine the derivation, first and second cohomology group of the \(q\)-deformed Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra of Hom-type, which will be useful to study low dimensional cohomology theory Hom-Lie algebras. Especially, using quantum calculation, the authors study and determine the universal central extension and outer derivations of the \(q\)-deformed Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra of Hom-type.
