A comprehensive construction of regular orthonormal wavelet bases in quasi-metric spaces of homogeneous type was recently obtained by \textit{P. Auscher} and \textit{T. Hytönen} [Appl. Comput. Harmon. Anal. 34, No. 2, 266--296 (2013; Zbl 1261.42057)]. The Hölder-continuity exponent \(\eta\) of these wavelets is in general a small positive number that reflects the probabilistic boundary regularity of the random dyadic cubes. In the important case of metric spaces, the paper under review shows that Hölder regularity of any exponent \(\eta < 1\) can be achieved using an improved construction of random dyadic cubes.
