Let X be a Hausdorff locally convex vector space. Given a continuous sublinear function f on X and a nonempty closed subset K of X, let \(f_ K(x):=\sup \{f(x-v):\) \(v\in K\}\) and \(Q_ f(x):=\{v\in K: f(x-v)=f_ K(x)\}\). The set K is said to have ''f-farthest point property'', abbreviated f-FP property, if for each x in X the set \(Q_ f(x)\) is nonempty. The main aim of this paper is to extend to f-farthest points, certain known results for farthest points in normed vector spaces. The authors obtain an apparently new proof of a known result, due to Asplund (1967), which answers the question: When are sets satisfying with unique f-FP property singleton sets?, in case the function f is an unsymmetric norm.
