In several papers Adomian has developed a numerical technique using special kinds of polynomials for solving nonlinear functional equations, specially for the numerical resolution of nonlinear algebraic equations, resolution of differential equations and delay differential equations, and numerical resolutions of nonlinear partial differential equations. The author proposes a new definition of this technique for the general equation \(y-N(y)=f,\) where N is a nonlinear operator from a Hilbert space H into H and f a given function in H. The new formulation of the problem makes it possible to prove the convergence of Adomian's approximations under suitable and reasonable hypotheses and to use the method in more general situations.
