The authors suggest a new model for bounded, prime, non-selfadjoint operators with rank-one imaginary part as non-selfadjoint Jacobi matrices of a special type. This result can be viewed as a natural extension of the celebrated Stone's theorem concerning selfadjoint operators with simple spectrum. The authors develop the direct and inverse spectral theory for finite and semi-infinite non-selfadjoint Jacobi matrices of this class, and establish the analogs of the Hochstadt and Gesztesy--Simon uniqueness theorems in the case of mixed inverse spectral problems. A unique Jacobi matrix which is unitary equivalent to the integration operator in \(L^2[0,l]\) is found and the analytic characterization of the Weyl functions of dissipative Jacobi matrices with rank-one imaginary part is given.
