    A \textit{(\(d\)-dimensional) dual arc} is a family \({\mathcal A}\) of \(d\)-dimensional subspaces of a Desarguesian projective space \(\text{ PG}(n, q)\) over a finite field \(\text{ GF}(q)\) satisfying the following three conditions: (i) any two distinct members of \({\mathcal A}\) intersect in a projective point; (ii) any three mutually distinct members of \(\mathcal A\) intersect trivially; (iii) the members of \(\mathcal A\) generate \(\text{ PG}(n, q)\). The underlying vector space of dimension \(n+1\) over \(\text{ GF}(q)\) for \(\text{ PG}(n, q)\) is called the \textit{ambient space} of \({\mathcal A}\). A \(d\)-dimensional dual arc \(\mathcal A\) consists of at most \(((q^{d+1}-1) / (q-1))+1\) members, and when the upper bound is attained \(\mathcal A\) is called a \textit{(\(d\)-dimensional) dual hyperoval}. Let \({\mathcal A}_1\) and \({\mathcal A}_2\) be \(d\)-dimensional dual arcs with ambient spaces \(U_1\) and \(U_2\) over \(\text{ GF}(q)\) respectively. We say that \({\mathcal A}_2\) is a \textit{quotient} of \({\mathcal A}_1\) if \({\mathcal A}_1\) and \({\mathcal A}_2\) consist of the same number of members and there is a surjective \(\text{ GF}(q)\)-semilinear map \(\rho\) from \(U_1\) onto \(U_2\) such that every member of \({\mathcal A}_1\) is mapped isomorphically onto a member of \({\mathcal A}_2\). There are four known constructions of infinite families of \(d\)-dimensional dual hyperovals: Veronesean constructions \({\mathcal H V}_d\) in \(\text{ PG}(d(d+3)/2, q)\) for every power \(q\) by \textit{J. A. Thas} and \textit{H. Van Maldeghem} [Q. J. Math. 55, No. 1, 99--113 (2004; Zbl 1079.51004)], characteristic dual hyperovals in \(\text{ PG}(d(d+3)/2, 2)\) by \textit{M. Buratti} and \textit{A. Del Fra} [``Semi-Boolean Steiner quadruple systems and dimensional dual hyperovals'', Adv. Geom. 2003, S254--S270 (2003; Zbl 1047.51001)] and \textit{A. Del Fra} and \textit{S. Yoshiara} [Eur. J. Comb. 26, No. 2, 173--194 (2005; Zbl 1072.51012)], constructions \(S^{d+1}_{\sigma, \phi}\) in \(\text{ PG}(2 d + 1, 2)\), \(\text{ PG}(2 d, 2)\) exploiting a Galois group generator \(\sigma\) and an \(o\)-polynomial \(\phi\) by the author [Eur. J. Comb. 20, No. 6, 589--603 (1999; Zbl 0937.51009)], and constructions \({\mathcal T}_\sigma(K)\) by \textit{H. Taniguchi} [Eur. J. Comb. 26, No. 2, 95--99 (2005; Zbl 1081.51010)]. In the paper under review the author investigates the relations of \({\mathcal T}_\sigma(K)\) with \({\mathcal H V}_d\) and \(S^{d+1}_{\sigma, \phi}\), and as a consequence of his results he answers to some questions about some special dual hyperovals arising from the above constructions.
