Asymptotic behavior of the solutions to a semilinear wave equation with nonlinear monotone damping, localized on a small interior portion of the spatial bounded connected domain in \(\mathbb{R}^n,\) satisfying various boundary conditions is investigated. Under some geometrical assumptions on the region and some growth assumptions on nonlinear functions, uniform energy decay rate is presented by means of the solution to a certain nonlinear ordinary differential equation.
